1st Presidential Debate

So, my best friend chose to write about the presidential debate as well. I’ve decided to go ahead and voice my opinions without reading his, then will probably choose to write about why I disagree with him tomorrow. 😉

Halfway through the debate, he texted me to tell me that nothing he heard so far swayed him to either candidate. I agree. While the first half was not vanilla, it wasn’t much more exciting. Talking about a bailout plan that hasn’t even been voted on yet is much less interesting than if the debate organizers had decided to hold those questions until after the vote and grill the candidates on their decision.

As we neared the end of the debate, I feel like McCain did a really good job of reinforcing the vast “experience gap” as it relates to foreign policy. While I feel like Obama can find some good people to put around himself, McCain already knows who’s full of **** and who’s not, and I believe his knowledge advantage here also helps him select(attract) better people.

I believe Obama scored one good point near the end, although sitting here now, I can’t for the life of me remember what it was. I’ll have to update that tomorrow.

As it stands now, I definitely lean towards McCain at the top of the ticket. I’m still trying to figure out how much the VP candidates mean to me.
