Laguardia Airport Trying to Re-Create It’s Image

I’ve never really been a big fan of Laguardia airport.  Even when I was a kid growing up in New York, it never struck me as a nice place to fly out of.  Fast forward a couple decades and nothing has changed.  Or has it?

American and United have both announced plans to renovate their space at LGA.  Not much in the way of progress there, but the new Delta terminal is supposed to be awesome.

Scott McCartney of the Wall Street Journal had a good piece a week ago about the changes.

The interesting thing here is that Delta didn’t put up the money.  It was the concession operator who footed the bill.  And, seeing their increased sales, this makes sense for them (and obviously for Delta).  So much sense that they’re now planning to roll out the same thing in a much bigger way in Minneapolis-St Paul Airport.

No doubt Delta’s loyalty program is the aviation equivalent of stale bread(it’ll keep you alive but you won’t be bragging to your friends about it).  But, with new planes featuring wi-fi and an in-flight entertainment system customers like, they’re at least keeping themselves relevant in the discussion.
