Hyatt Expanding Again, In Asia And Central America

2 quick tidbits expanding the Hyatt network:

Park Hyatt Busan has opened marking the second Park Hyatt in South Korea and the 10th in Asia.  I’m a huge fan of the Park Hyatt brand.  The Park Hyatt Tokyo is a favorite of mine.  I’m always happy to see another Park Hyatt pop up.  This property appears to be entering the program as a Category 4, which means 15,000 Gold Passport points per night.

Hyatt has also announced development of two new properties in Panama, a Hyatt Place and Hyatt House.  At first I was pretty jazzed by this announcement.  We’re on our way to Panama for a vacation later this year, and Hyatt doesn’t have any properties in the country.  Alas, I was hoping for a resort property which doesn’t look like it’s in the cards.  It’s still good to see the network expanding, but these properties probably don’t fit my travel profile with some resorts that are part of the Starwood Preferred Guest program located on the beach.

Oh, and it looks like we finally have an opening date for Hyatt Union Square.  Rates are so high in Manhattan, one can only hope more capacity leads to a yielding in the constant increase of rates.  This property appears to be a Category 5, which means 18,000 Gold Passport points per night.  That’s on par (now) with Hyatt 48Lex, which recently moved to a 5, and probably a reasonable value for NYC.
